When I got home from work today I saw that our recycling trash can had been pushed up against our fence. Apparently one of the boards on our fence came down and Sadie slipped her way through. I am not sure exactly how long she was out or where she went. But she was picked up by Animal Services, taken to the local animal shelter for them to figure out her address and then they brought her home and put her in the backyard. The note they left behind said they dropped her off at home at 1:45. When I called the shelter to figure out exactly what happened, they said the notes in the computer said that they picked her up with a Golden Retriever. It sounds like she found herself a friend while she was out frolicking around town. From Sadie's perspective today was probably a really cool day. A play date with a friend. A walk. Possibly a trip to the park. Two rides in the car (one to the shelter and one home from the shelter). These are all things she LOVES! Crazy girl!
I am just so thankful that she was safely returned home. What if she was hit by a car or something? I would have been devastated! When Chris got home he fixed the fence so hopefully this doesn't happen again!

oh my gosh!!!!!!!!!!! i would have freaked out if she had gotten hurt. and gunner is jealous that she found another retriever...he is convinced she probably thought it was him. whoa...i am glad chris fixed the fence.

Oh my goodness Miss Sadie. Sounds like you had a fun day out, making a new friend, going on a car ride twice, but next time ask your parents permission to go. no need to sneak out. we would have all been very upset if something happened to you
