My First Mother's Day

The day before mother's day Logan and I went down to San Diego for a ladies luncheon at church with my mom, my sister-in-law Jessica, my niece and nephew and Jessica's mom, Marie. It was a nice afternoon to celebrate womanhood and all the joys and challenges that come with that.

Mother's Day morning started with getting to sleep in and cuddle (two of my favorite things)! Then I had breakfast in bed and was showered with sweet cards and gifts.
First I opened a present from Sadie. Her card told me that this present reminded her of all the good times we have had playing ball. She got me a tennis ball green t-shirt. =)
Then I opened Logan's gift. His card told me that he was sorry for "hijacking my booty" for the last 16 months. He told me that I am his "trophy mom"! haha... He got me a pair of shorts!
Don't I have such creative kids (way to go Daddy)!!!!

I also got a present from Chris. The card was one that my mom had made and it had a picture of Chris and I on our wedding day and said "and they lived happily ever after". I was in tears before I even read the card. The moment captured in the picture from our wedding day was such a sweet memory. I remember being overjoyed that Chris was actually my husband, a true gift from God just for me!!! I remember wondering what life would hold for us.
Here we are, almost 6 years later, celebrating the addition of Logan to our lives, another gift the Lord has given us. Our journey has been sweet so far even with the challenges and bumps along the way. HIS grace has been sufficient for us and I am thrilled to continue down the road HE has planned for us.
Ok... well all that was to try and explain my thought process and what was keeping me from even being able to open the card!!! The inside of the card was filled with sweet words from Chris and since I was still a tearful mess he had to read it to me (for once my emotions worked in my favor... heehee!)
What did Chris get me you ask??? Well some of you might have noticed it in the last picture. I got this...
Most people know that about 3 years ago I slowly developed an allergy to gold. My finger would get red and irritated from my wedding ring. It would peel or blister and would take weeks to heal when it happened. I did start to hear of a few other people who this had happened to. I guess its not that uncommon! It got to the point where I would only wear it for things like Parent Teacher Conferences (to make sure all the dads know I am UNavailable!). By the end of the day my finger would be a mess. So I just stopped wearing it altogether.

Chris took my ring and had it reset in a different metal! I was shocked! I literally sat there with my mouth hanging open, tears down my face and no words. It was wonderful!
I will definitely always remember my first mother's day!
